Interested in radio? Looking for a fun way to serve the student body? Resound Radio wants you! Our station has a variety of opportunities for you to strengthen your skills:
DJ's
Our DJs are on the air every weekday from 2PM until Midnight and Saturdays Noon until Midnight. You don’t have to be an Electronic Media or Communications Arts major to apply! Our DJs are the station’s connection between us and the student body – if you have an interest in being a DJ stop in our office in the SSC or email us!
Production
Resound strives to keep everything we play fresh – from music to commercials. Our production department is always looking for more people to help with the following:
Commercial Spot Production
We produce :30 and :60 commercial spots for our advertisers. Depending on the length of their contract, several different spots may need to be produced throughout the year. Our commercials utilize creative ways to help generate business for the advertiser.
Liner Production
Each day Resound Radio airs over 100 liners that talk about who we are, what we do and why we do it. These range from :05 to :15 and fall into several different categories. We need creative liners written and produced. Because of their heavy play, we try to keep them as fresh as possible and produce many new ones each week.
Show Production
Aside from great music, Resound Radio also airs several shows geared towards different Cedarville audiences. They air at different times throughout the week. Each involve coordinating with hosts and material to help produce the show for later broadcasts and podcasts.
Feature Production
Resound Radio offers several little features of about a minute in length on various topics. They are heard at various times throughout the day and also available for podcast.
Music
Our music director spends countless hours previewing new songs and making sure our song library stays fresh. Resound Radio holds its artists at a Christian standard in order to ensure that what we play is consistent with Christian living. We also have an entire library of Christmas music that plays 24/7 from Thanksgiving entire the end of the semester. If you love music this is the department for you.
Sales
Resound Radio’s source of revenue comes from selling advertising to local businesses. Our sales staff is committed to putting together the best ad campaigns for our clients. We have several advertising tools available for our clients: Commercial Spots, Web site Banners, and Sponsorships of features, shows and newscasts. If you have any interest in the area of sales or want to learn more send us an email. As an added bonus, each member of our sales staff receives a 20% commission on revenue earned for the station!
Visual Media
Because our signal is heard exclusively online, our Web site is the station’s biggest asset. Countless hours have been put into developing our new site and many more go into maintaining and updating it. We need people to help update our podcast page, event information, etc. Our visual media department is also responsible for station videos. We do videos to promote events and special promotions.
News
Resound Radio is Cedarville University’s only daily news source. Our newscasts run several times throughout the day and is geared towards Cedarville University students. We cover national and international news as well as local packages featuring stories unique to campus. You can get involved several ways:
Newscasters
Each newscasts involves two main newscasts who read the stories
Writers
If you want to be involved, but not on the air, you can help write news stories for our newscasts.
Reporters
We need reporters to put together special features and packages about topical issues on campus.
Producers
This is a way to combine a passion for news and production. Because our newscasts are not down live, each newscast has to be assembled before being aired.
Promotions
Our promotions department’s primary objective is to promote the station in every way possible. They also focus on receiving free stuff for the station to giveaway (gift certificates, CDs, etc) during DJ shifts, shows and at remote events. If you enjoy asking people for free stuff this is the department for you!
As you can see, there are so many ways for you to get involved with Resound Radio! We can guarantee that there is someway for you to utilize your God-given talents and skills. We hope to provide students with a training ground for the future. Many Cedarville grads have used what they have learned through working with Resound in the current positions – and not just those in radio.
